$28 Million Renovation and Expansion of Lethbridge Police Service Headquarters is Complete

The $28-million renovation and expansion of Lethbridge Police Service headquarters is finally complete.

A massive renovation and expansion of Lethbridge Police Service headquarters has come to an end. The $28-million project started back in 2014 and now the station boasts a three-level, 3,500 square foot addition at the back of the building as well as a two-level parking structure. The holding area has also grown from eight cells to 28 cells. LPS Inspector Tom Ascroft says for the 243 people who work there, it was a bit like building or renovating a house while living in it only on a much larger scale. He says there weren't too many issues, even with a lot of people working from many different sites during construction, but it's nice to have everyone back in one place. The expansion is expected to extend the life of the police headquarters building for about 25 years. -Tina Giesbrecht
